Email router- Tracking problem RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear CRM deployers,

We are setting up email routing for dynamics and the email router seems to be unable to track the messages to attach them to crm leads and contacts.

We have set a forward mail box
The mail is forwarded using forwarding is exchange 2007 using the delivery options
The CRM installation has access to the forward mailbox

All messages including those from contacts and leads are moved to the undeliverable folder in the forward mailbox.

In the user's option we have set that all email should be tracked.

Has anybody any ideas about how to configure the tracking?

    Best regards,

    Jan

  •  Jan,

You must use the Rule Deployment Wizard.

    - Select Start, All Programs. Then go to the Microsoft Dynamics CRM E-mail Router programs group and click Run Deployment Wizard.

You have to configure the user profile to use the forward Mailboxes.

    - Log in crm, configuration, administration, users, E-mail Access Configuration, select forward mailbox.

  • Hi thanks for your answer.

We had some trouble running rules & deployment wizard because of necessary updates on our mail server which made it crash. I was wondering if there was a way to use a forward mailbox without using the rules deplyment wizard. I prefer a method without the email rules.

    Thanks,

  • There are alternate configurations that do not use rules =
"With 4.0 administrators have the ability to monitor individual mailboxes directly, or monitoring incoming e-mail through the Forward Mailbox or the Outlook client. This setting is specified in a dropdown list on the MSCRM user or Queue record form (E-Mail Router), and it is configured using the E-Mail Router Configuration Manager tool.

MSCRM v4 offers administrators the flexibility to configure users and queues in multiple methods in the same deployment. It is possible to configure some user/queue mailboxes to be monitored directly on one e-mail server while others are configured so the E-mail Router processes mail from a Forward Mailbox on a different e-mail server. Individual mailbox monitoring also provides the administrator the option to allow CRM users to enter their email credentials securely in their personal options. "

Also - Check Mike's video on configuring it with Exchange to connect directly with the user's mailbox. - will require more administrative work, but may be the solution you're looking for.
