I/O Error when copying files RRS feed

  • Question

When it gets to the part to install the files after formatting the disk ( WD Caviar SE16 320gig), I get an I/O device error.

The disk is attached to a SATA 4 Channel RAID controller (SIIG) and the PC is an HP 2.4Ghz.

    Any ideas?

  • What is this on?

This is the Windows Home Server forum, is this on your server, if so, is it a home built one, or a purchased one?

  • Yes, it is a built one. It's on a small, kind of old HP server with a 2.4ghz processor and 1 gig of memory. The disk is attached to a PCI SATA controller and so far files can copy to the disk after formatting.

  • Try different drivers, test the hard drives in a different machine, check your cables.
