Restore CD Help RRS feed

  • I am having trouble obtaining an XP Home Restore CD from Gateway. I have asked several times for a replacement but they were very adamant on not giveing me another one, they even 'hung up' on me when I phoned in technical support citing that my computer was out of warranty. I asked for a generic one to register with the product key attatched tom my computer, but they still refused, didn't know what I was talking about, suggested purchasing the retail version, etc. Please help, my computer cannot load any drivers, the system files are corrupt, and it has accumulated numerous viruses/spware over the years. Can I order a CD directly from Microsoft?

         Where did you purchase your Gateway computer? Was it purchased from a Gateway retailer?  If purchased from a Gateway retailer I was given the following number (408) 273-0808. The out of warantee number for Gateway Direct (if you purchased from Gateway Direct) is (800) 229-1103. 

     

    Also I researched information @ Gateway here:

    Depending on the availability of the System Restoration CD you need, Gateway may be able to provide backup media for your computer. This may be at a cost according to your warranty status. Use the following address to contact Gateway about the availability of System Restoration CDs. Hopefully you may get some resolve with this information.
