You can format in many ways

1)Format useing format command e.g.- format c: (you can avail help on format command by typing format/? on command prompt)

2)Right Click on MyComputer then select manage then format

3)Useing a bootable Xp cd (select boot from CD rom from your BIOS then insert you bootable XP cd and format your all disk)

  • The C drive contains the files needed by the system for booting process. So you cannot just format the drive using right click option on drive and choosing "format" neither you can just delete the files. You have to format the drive using CD ROM or other external bootable device and install the OS again.
