Dear All,
I need to help about "How to convert Account to Opportunity". I know in CRM4.0 we can convert lead to account, contact and opportunity. In CRM4.0 whenever once you created a lead then it will show the button "Convert to Leads" on lead entity menu bar. This is out of box functionality.
But my requirement is to provide an option to "convert account to opportunity" like the above lead button. If it is supported in a extended customization way please shre me your valuable information.
Please anybody help me about this requirement.
I would be very happy if anybody gives right solution.

Hi,
I am not sure why you would convert an account to an opportunity.....
The standard way to use Opportunities, is to create an opportunity against an Account/Contact. It could be that you have multiple opportunities against an account.
An opportuntiy in itself doesn't contain Account information as such.

Just to go in further details.
Opportunity will always have a customer and customer is either or contact or account (not lead). If you want to create an opportunity than you can open account record and in associated view click opportunity than new it will create an opportunity for a specific customer. Opportunity will never exist without customer and a customer can have multiple of opportunities.
We never convert an account to opportunity. We may convert a lead into contact and account. Opportunity is always linked with customer.
If you need any other information please ask freely.

Faisal

As others have mentioned, there is no real concept of 'converting' an account into an opportunity as one does not replace the other. Opportunities belong to an account (or a contact). To create an opportunity and populate the opportunity record with information from the account, simply open the account, click on the opportunities section on the left of the account record and click the 'new opportunity' button. In the back end of CRM you can define which account fields are used to populate fields on the opportunity record. This is called 'mapping'.
