Hotmail asking for Credit Card RRS feed

  • Question

  •

One of my kids got their hotmail frozen. Older kid thinks it is because of an attempted setting change.

I tried to log on and it is asking that parental permission be given for Windows Live access.

They want proof of adulthood in the form a a credit card # and exp date.

Sounds bogus. Originated on msn.com and not a link/phish. One article suggested malware, but I keep a pretty clean sys. Any ideas?

  • Hi MotileBeast,

Thanks for the information. I agree with bleuken. I don't know of any program on our side that requires a credit card for hotmail access.

I suggest contacting hotmail support with this information.

    Thanks again,

  • i think you need to get a confirmation from MSN directly. I guess MSN will not ask for a credit card for just that kind of confirmation. I think it is another Phishing Scam. Don't give any info.

  • It appears that your Hotmail account has been jacked.  The following thread describes the problem well here:

Whatever you do, don't provide your credit card information.
