Recent code update *reduces* Firefox functionality when Moving Threads RRS feed

  • Question

  • The situation when using Firefox and wanting to move threads is that the "Move thread to" dropdown gives a list of forums starting (at the bottom) with where you are moving from and then showing maybe the 10 forums above that in the total list.

Up to a few days ago if you then pressed the downward arrow that list of ca 11 forums would scroll downwards and you would see the next (lower) lot of forums.  I.e. you couldn't scroll with the mouse, but you could "scroll" with the aid of the down arrow on the keyboard.

Now if you press the downward arrow at the same point, the drop-down list jumps up to the top and now shows the ca 11 first forums in the list. Not helpful.

(It's still possible to juggle with the downward arrow if you manage to do this so that you don't have the dropdown list at all but only the single originally selected entry visible. If at that point you do downward arrow you will move one by one in that single-line box until you come to the forum you want to move to. This is however messy, difficult to get right and time consuming).

  • This certainly wasn't intentional. We haven't had a Forums release in almost 2 weeks now, so if fuctionality changed, I assume it had to have been then.

Which version of Firefox is this on?

    Thanks

  • It's on Firefox 3.xx running under XP Pro.

Unfortunately I'm not at work for the next almost three weeks so I have no way of giving you the exact sub-version number.

At the moment I'm running Safari/Mac and that function is working as perfectly as it does in IE7 on my other home machines.

  • OK, I'll have it checked in FF3. It's possible that we haven't done a full/complete test pass with FF3, but most things seemed to be functional. I'll check with the test team.

    Thanks

  • Afaik, it has always done that.  It's a pain.  The mouse wheel works but you have to get the focus right.

  • This issue seems to be fixed by Forum and Firefox updates.

    Thanks!
