MSF -- Client DB as MS Access RRS feed

  • We are planning to use SQL Server 2005 and MS Access as server and client side databases respectively, we are evaluating MSF for synchronization between SQL Server 2005 and MS Access Databases.
    Can you guys please share your experiences or give me the client side provider for MS Access ??

  • Hi Ravinatha,

    MS has not released a MS Access sync provider. One thing I would point out that may be of interest to you is the handling of autoincrement columns in access. Not unique to Access but anytime you want to share a database that has autoincrement column you want to decide how to deal with uniqueness of these values. One approach is to centrally give out ranges that the clients use to feed the autoincrement column. When a client runs out of range it can request a new range.
