In March 2007, I had Office Professional 2007 added to my new laptop. This is an upgrade for the Office Small business I had on a desktop computer that the motherboard crashed on. I have no problems downloading Windows Vista updates. But when I try to download Office updates it validates my Office Professional 2007 but denies the download because it says I have Office Home & Student 2007 which I do not have. It tells me to remove it. A; How can I find it if it is on my computer and B: How can I delete something that is not there?

  • Hello Kim,

No problem I think this will be an easy fix action :-). It appears you may have some bits lingering behind from a either a previous full installation or more common it was a preinstalled trial version of Office. Your issue appears to be outside the scope of the Genuine Advantage forum. In an attempt to assist I would like to provide the following information, however if the issue persists I would recommend you contact Microsoft Office support at http://support.microsoft.com/gp/assistsupport and choosing your product to create a support incident.

Please look @ the following Knowledge Base (KB) article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/928218/en-us. Here you will find detailed instructions for removing beta release versions of Office Suite 2007 or program.

Important:  This article contains information about how to modify the registry. Make sure that you back up the registry before you modify it.
