Question

Please restore the prior ActiveSync functionality for syncing via a dial-up or wired connection that was removed to placate the cell phone companies, so they could charge for this 'feature'.

Also, please restore the conflict resolution option found in earlier (3.x) versions of Active Sync. Updated information should be allowed to flow in BOTH directions... not just from my device to my PC or vice-versa. The option "If there is a conflict ASK ME WHAT TO DO" was great... and is sorely missed.

I agree completely. I previously used Palm devices for a number of years, and they always included a setting that allowed you to copy the item in in both directions if a conflict occured and in addition, it provided a very clear error message that a conflict had occurred and what action was taken.
With WM, I recently changed an appointment in my mobile device and apparently some change had been made on my PC in Outlook for the same appointment. The result was that the important date change was reverted back to the original, I never noticed this and missed the appointment. At least an error message would have been useful and I could have corrected the problem. Maybe Microsoft could learn a thing or two from Palm.

Someone in another thread recommended reverting back to ActiveSync 4.2. This has worked like a charm, as it includes conflict resolution. I think I'll stay with version 4.2 until Microsoft decides to reinstate this functionality in its later versions of ActiveSync.
