Not genuine version of Windows RRS feed

  • Question

  •  Some days ago when I was trying to open Word appeard message that I don't have Windows XP genuine version. But I have it.

I installed KeyUpdateTool_enu.exe and entered key number of my genuine version of Windows XP. When I opened two times Word it was OK, but the third time again appeared the same message.

Then I tried Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Results and it failed "Microsoft Genuine Advantage plug-ins connect with Microsoft validation servers".

I think the problem is that now I am using LAN-connection in a student residence. Before when I was using wireless connection I had no problem.

I am trying to configure Proxy server, but it's quite complicated because I have no idea how it functions.

I will be thankful for any help.

The problem here lies not with Windows, but with Office - which is reported as being based on a License Key that was once owned by MS itself, before it was stolen and published on the internet many years ago. The key was then Blocked. If you bought Office Pro, complete with disks etc., and it came with a key ending in -BVBWY then you may be able to claim a Complementary copy of Office from MS -
If you follow the links from the notification, it should get you to the pages where you can see about a Complementary Genuine Kit - which requires that you send your full package to MS
Microsoft's Complimentary replacement program.   See this part of the FAQ:  http://www.microsoft.com/genuine/downloads/FAQ.aspx?displaylang=en#ID0EFIAC

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.

  • key ending in -BVBWY

Small correction, the key referenced in your report ending in BVBWY is from your Windows key, not Office.

That being said, Noel is correct that your Office is still using a blocked volume license key that was not intended for use outside of the original subscribers organization.

Your copy of Office is based on a stolen Volume License Key - it was never valid.
