Re-run the MGA Diagnostic Tool. Under the Windows tab, look for the Resolve button and click on it. Afterward, restart your computer and visit www.microsoft.com/genuine and click on "Validate Windows".Saturday, October 21, 2006 10:02 PMModerator

This helped, it got me passed the cyrtographic error not resolved.............. Updates still failed though until I tried a manual download of a single update. This asked me to insert my XP Pro disk (it was looking for a .CAB file), whem I did this update was sucessfull and others followed.
So I am OK now, many thanks
