Can you install Windows Homes Server 2011 on a 32 bit computer? RRS feed

  • Windows Home Server 2011 is based on Windows Server 2008 R2, which is 64 bit only. So if your hardware doesn't support a 64 bit OS, you won't be able to install.

  • Thanks Ken - I only ask because a so-called expert told me that newer processors even though 32 bit architecture, can run instructions through the system in 2x32 blocks = 64

  • You'll have to consult your system's technical documentation to determine this, but if the documentation says it will support a 64 bit OS, then you should be able to install Windows Home Server 2011. If it doesn't, you won't.
