  • Question

  • Hi,
I want to build a home server for my house and below is the parts list I have selected. There will be some upgrading in the future (if necessary).
The main use of this system will be for files sharing, backups, remote access and media streaming. This system will be running WHS and Vail later.
Here is my parts list, I welcome any criticism, or opinions. We have 6 computers Win 7, Mac and Ubuntu.
I want to run RAID 5 if possible. Thank You.

  • Looks good to me. With the impending release of WHS2022 to the OEM channel, I would be inclined to wait for that release rather than installing WHS1 for a short period of time (assuming you intend to go for WHS2011).

  • Pricing not announced yet but I would expect around $120 (pure guess) and release some time this month (it's already available on TechNet).

  • When WHS 2011 will be available for purchase and how much it will cost?

    Thanks.
