TIVO Desktop Universal Audio Plug-in and TIVO Publisher for WHS Add-in RRS feed

  • Question

  •

Hi!  I have installed the TIVO Publisher for WHS Add-in and it works fine for me on my WHS but I have most of my audio ripped as WMA which works fine from my XP PC which is running the TIVO Desktop Universal Audio Plug-in but doesn't when attempting to play from my WHS.

Has anyone figured out a way to play WMAs from TIVO Publisher for WHS Add-in?  I tried to install the Universal audio Plug-in on my WHS but that didn't do it for me.  Must have done something wrong?!?

Any direction would be appreciated!  Thanks!

  • This is exactly the question I have.  The combination of WHS and TiVo is awesome, but it greatly reduces the usefulness of the Publisher add-in if I can't get my WMA files to play through the TiVo interface.  Speaking for myself, I think this functionality would be something that could be sold for a nominal fee (say $10) along with Publisher for TiVo.

  • I agree this would be a great feature.  This is the only thing that is keeping me from using this add-in currently.

  • Anyone?  Any ideas?  I know I am not the only one out there using WMA files instead of MP3s?  Or am I?

I suppose I can just re-rip all my music to MP3 - ugh.

    Help! Smile

  • That's what I did. Not specifically for streaming from WHS but when I bought a new PC and lost most of the music that I purchased from online stores like Walmart because DRM would not port I decided never again would DRM steal from me. So WMA is my delimeter solely to keep track of what I have not converted to MP3. When I buy anything online I have to burn it and then rip it back as MP3.  Talk about a pain.

  • Hi guys,

I've had a few people want WMA file support. So, version 1.2 is coming this week and it supports WMA audio.

    Thanks,

    Rob

It's like they were made for each other.  I also use TiVoPlayList on another machine.  TiVoPublisher still has some trouble with folders, but it is getting there.
