I am trying to deploy CRM 3.0 on a test environnement (virtual server).

I can't start the installation as the program says that the xxx_CRM.mdf cannot be accessed. When I look in the concerned folder, the file doesn't exist !

I guess there was a problem in your SQL Server 2005 installation and it was not allowing CRM setup to create database. Installing SQL Server 2000 fixed your problem. But i recommand to reinstall it using SQL Server 2005 SP 2 as well and check again. May be this will fix your problem...

This could be a permission problem.
Try running up SQL Server 2005 management studio. Make sure that you can create a test database, if you can not then there is a problem with the installation of SQL Server 2005.
If you can, then you need to double-check the account you are logged in as during the CRM installation, and whether you are asking to install CRM in a different file location from normal.

hello
As it is a test machine I didn't protect it at all, or set any security...
I am logged as administrator and all the account used are those suggested by default (or administrator).
When I manualy try to create a database, I can do it without any difficulties. If I manualy create the xxx_CRM file then the error change and the program says that a file already exist !!
Any other idea ?
Thank's in advance

Hi,
please answer following questions, so that we may get bit clear idea about your scenario...
1. Are you installing MS CRM and SQL Server on the same machines?
2. When you manually create database XXX_MSCRM, does it allow you to make it?

Hi,
MS CRM setup generally doesn't shows such issue. Please make sure that your setup is not corrupted. I feel there should be some problem in it. If you have rights to create new database using sql server IDE and you are trying to install CRM using the same username, then there shouldn't be any problem like this.
One issue could be if you providing such user for running CRM Services who doesn't have enough rights.
Please send me snap-shots of your wizard and active directory users and computer page at sohaib.ahmad@hotmail.com . May be I could get more specific about your problem.
Regards,
Sohaib
