Using OneCare with other programs! RRS feed

  • Question

How would i use Windows Live OneCare with other programs?  Such as WinRar and Bitcomet or LimeWire.

These programs have a feature to where it can use your currently installed antivirus program for in internal scan.

Commonly they ask for two basic requirements:

    1. Antivirus Program - The virus scan direct exe file. (i.e.  AVGSCANX.EXE)

    2. Execute Command Parameter - The command to execute the virus scan feature.

    (i.e. /scan=%f ext=* /arc /clean)

What are the parameters for OneCare and what application file would i use?

  • I moved your post to the Anti-virus topic from the Off Topic folder where I just found it.

To the best of my knowledge there is no way to call OneCare in this manner from a 3rd party program. Keep in mind that OneCare provides real-time protection for files loaded to memory and written to disk, so OneCare is "scanning" the files when you open them in a program such as WinRar and extract the contents to disk. Alternatively, before opening any file received from another program/downloaded, right click the file and select the option to scan it for viruses.
