  • Can nobody give me hint why I am not able to install Synctoy? I really desperately need it.

I was trying to install a older Version like 2.0 but I always get the message that a newer version is already installed. I deinstalled everything from 2.1 and even looked in the registry for every entry of Synctoy. Still no chance to install the old version. Any ideas on that ?

  • Verify if you have Microsoft Synchronization Framework components installed in your computer and uninstall them all, then retry the SyncToy installation.  SyncToy installs Microsoft Synchronization Framework Core Components and Microsoft Synchronization Provider Services which are needed for file synchronization.

  • Hello,

thanks for your reply. Unfortunately I did that already. As you see from the log with the Synctoy installation it does install the Sync Framework successfully but afterwards it doesn't contiune with SyncToy V2.1.

Any other ideas? Looking desperately for solving this issue.

  • Hello,

I solved that issue. It was related with my roaming profile.

  • I can't get it to install either. Or rather, it looks like it's installed OK but then when I try to run it for the first time it says Please wait while Windows configures (twice) and then either exits with an error or just silently exits. I've tried uninstalling .NET and the Sync Framework packages and so on but this keeps happening.

    I'm running Vista.

I'd have liked to try installing an earlier version of SyntToy but I can't find one available.

Here is the installation log, if that helps:

  • Is any progress being made with this problem. I installed on 3 systems and now have the same issue on all. The thing ran OK for long enough to instill confidante then degraded to this. Cheers Geoff
