The Windows License Key for this install is the infamous Lenovo Key that has never been installed on a legal PC. It's install was enabled by use of a hacker's Loader program.

The Office install is also non-genuine - it is an Enterprise version, which is only sold to businesses for use on their own machines and is not available to the general public.

What version of Windows is the machine licensed for, acceding to the COA Sticker on the  case? (I suspect XP Home).

  • Read the sticky: http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/genuinewindows7/thread/a2444f34-0aff-4f29-a8ac-67e28b0c0285 and post the result here.

If it's a MSDN/Technet license or something like that, the cheapest way to buy a legal version of Windows 7 is to follow the tips you get if you buy a new copy when you go to http://microsoft.com/genuine on the computer that is marked non genuine.

  • Gotta have a report, follow these MS instructions on how to create and paste a report, post them in THIS thread.

In order to receive the best support, we request all users initially download and run the Genuine Diagnostics tool (MGADiag.exe) at this link http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012. Click "Continue", click the "Copy" button then “Paste” the report into a reply message in this thread.

If you do not have access to the Start Button:

    1)      Login to Vista and click the option that brings up Internet Explorer.

    2)      Type: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 into the browser address bar.

    3)      A window will come up asking if you want to “Run” or “Save”, Select “Run”.

    4)      When the program runs, click the “Continue” button, then click the “Copy” button.

    5)      Paste Report into your newly created forum thread.

  • This report reflect Windows XP (Windows OS version: 5.1.2600.2.00010100.3.0.pro), Also, it is a Volume License. I am afraid to say that you did not get what your were promised, according to THIS report this is not windows 7 and the OS is pirated. Also, the microsoft office professional plus is most likely volume licensed and it's installation is suspect.

You will need to purchase a full version of windows and office to be licensed and validated.

Please press the win key and pause key at the same time to bring of the system properties page (or navigate through the control panel) and tell us what version is listed in the system properties.

....so what machine was it you ran the report on? inside XP Mode, perhaps?
Please run a new report - this time from the normal  Win 7 interface.

  • Windows Product ID: 76487-641-4298354-23040 <--- that is the PID from the report

Windows OS version: 5.1.2600 <------------------------That reflects windows XP

What you are telling us, and what is reflected in the report do not coincide. Try generating a new report, there is no useful advice I can give based on the above report.

  • The only thing I can say for sure is that NEITHER PC will pass validation.

  • Does this mean I need to purchase a Full Version of Windows 7 Ultimate OS or can I purchase an upgrade version?

There is a link to microsoft that says "get genuine" that offers a discounted Windows 7 can I use that?

Can I still purchase a Windows XP operating system?

Thank you for all your help.

  • You need to purchase full versions of whichever OS you want to use, I suggest purchasing Windows 7 and then using XPmode.
