How does the system sends out mass e-mails RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear all,

Our business enjoys the emails sending out from CRM via bulk e-mail or quick campaign. So far we didn't send out too much in the same time, but the usage of the tool is growing, we would like to properly set-up the solution.

We run into a questions, which we couldn't answer.

In case of sending out 10 000 e-mails with CRM Bulk e-mial or Quick Campaign tool, does it sent in packages with delays? If it does what is the frequency and the limit?

I know that the e-mail sending is managed assychronously, but I should know if it'll try to process 10000 emails in the same time or it will have a break every 1000.

Why is this important? To avoid spam points, and overload the exchange server.

    Thanks for all reply.

  • CRM does not provide a way to schedule email delivery out-of-the-box.  Once the emails are generated they will be picked up for delivery in the next batch.  If you want to be able to schedule email delivery then you'll want to consider a third party solution like Click Dimensions, CoreMotives or another vendor option.  You can find those solutions in the MarketPlace

If you don't want to purchase a solution, you could create the emails but not send them and manually throttle the email delivery using a workflow.  For example, you could create the emails and leave them in draft status.  Create a view that displays the emails and select 250 at a time to run a workflow that updates the Status of the email to Pending Send.  That should trigger the email router to pick up that group of emails and send them.  However, I'm sure this will get very tedious very soon so your best option is to review the available Marketing solutions that integrate with CRM and purchase one.  If you are sending 10 K emails you'll want the level of spam protection and other features offered by one of those solutions.
