problem with win xp recognizing my dvd r/w drive RRS feed

    I have winxp pro on a hp pavillion c767a asus board tower w/ dual pent 4 3.2 ghz procs 3.5 g ram. my prob is that my dvd burner, a lg gh24ls50 wont see any burnable media. I get a message that the drive is not capable of writing media, that it is recognized as only a player! what's up with this? I'm trying to mount a linux distro onto a dvd-r, I have brand new dvd-r blanks, ???
