Having installed Windows 7 64 bit on a newly built computer, I was rather exasperated to find that Outlook Express 6.0 has been scrapped. After a lot of frustration, I have managed to set up my existing BT broadband email account on Windows Live Mail, but have had no success with my existing Tiscali account. When trying to sync to this account I am asked for username and password. When I enter these I get this message:
"Unable to send or receive messages for the Tiscali.co account. An incorrect password was entered. The next time you send or receive messages, you'll be asked to enter your user name and password for this account.
Server Error: 0x800CCC90 Server Response: -ERR [AUTH] invalid user or password Server: 'pop.tiscali.co.uk' Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC92 Protocol: POP3 Port: 110 Secure(SSL): No"
I have checked my username and password, and they are correct. I have verified this by accessing my messages on Tiscali's website and logging in with my details. Also, the Kaspersky email preview confirms the existence of the messages on the server, but I am unable to download them. When I Kaspersky email preveiw window, they should be downloaded, but just disappear.
The problem must be with Live Mail in some way. Does anybody have any suggestions?
