Addressbook not available RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I have a little problem with my OCS deployment again. I get everything up and running for the internal users, but external users are not able to access the global addressbook. The communicator doesn't download it but he get the personal "friendlist" of the user. So I'm suprised. He's able to get the list of the added contacts, but not to get the global addressbook. Maybe the addressbook is not accessible from the web (only a previous version downloaded during the time the PC/laptop was connected to the internal network). There is no error message in the event-log of the client nor on the server site. The validation of both servers, edge and consolidated pool shows any errors. Everything went fine. The firewall is properly configured, but we don't use a ISA server. Any ideas, or can somebody told me that's "normal".

    Thanks!

  • Also fixed. First I connected the PC from inside the network and make sure the address book is working, after that I connected it over the internet and everything is working now.

  • Thats a workaround you are using.... if you want that a user from internet should be able to downloa dthe address book, you need to configure reverse proxy.. http://www.ocspedia.com/Edge_Server/Deploy_ReverseProxy.htm

  • Yes that's what I tried and from the technical view it seems to work, but the pool didn't accept it. The download address for the address book and the meeting content is empty and if I implement it via the lcscmd tool and the wmi tool it's listed in the pool config, but never used. I think it's a problem with our firewall. We can't finetune it like the the ISA server. So probely I have to life with that workaround.

  • If you are certian to live with this workaround.. (I wouldnt prefer it though)... then you should make the latest GalContacts.db available through internet (simple https download with an instruction about how to place it in user profile to allow communicator to search the address book).. just a wild thought.. it will still enable any internet user to be able to download the address book file even if he doesnt connect to the intranet before!

  • I have to live with this workaround, because I have no chance to configure the http-reverse-proxy (internal limitations). So maybe your idea with the download will be a nice solution. I will try it! Thanks!
