Windows Live Photo Gallery File Extension Error RRS feed

  • Question

  • I keep getting the following error when trying to play a file  that I copied to my desktop from my D drive (DVD):  The file you are attempting to play has an extension (.VOB) that does not match the file extension.  Playing the file may result in unexpected behavior.  When I select "yes", I just get a black screen when I press play.

This is a new computer with Windows 7.  I can play this same file on my other two computers:  one with Windows Vista and one upgraded to Windows 7 from Windows Vista.  Both computers use Windows Live Photo Gallery to open it.

I uninstalled Windows Live Photo Gallery and Movie Maker, downloaded the software again from your website and restarted the computer.  I also deleted the file from my desktop and DVD and recopied it.  This did not work … I’m still getting the error and then a black screen.

Thank you for any help you can give me.  I need this on my new computer.
