Synctoy 2.1 appears to work but can't be trusted Internal HDD to External HDD RRS feed

  • Question

  • In theory, this should be simple.

The PC runs windows 7 64bit, and Im trying to get Synctoy 2.1 to copy a large folder (500GB of various files) onto an external USB3 HDD formatted to NTFS using the Echo command.

It appears to  run - synctoy runs and using file explorer you can see the files on both HDD's, properly backed up. No problem !

The trouble is that when I open synctoy again, it tells me that the file sync hasn't been run yet. And If I decide to run it again, it copies ALL the files as it doesn't see then on the external HDD, taking a couple of hours.

In essence, I can't trust it, and it fails to be the simple, automated thing that expected it to be. What's going on  ?
