Can't post to answers.microsoft.com RRS feed

  • Question

  • Throughout the entire day (2018-12-26), I've been unable to post a question on answers.microsoft.com.  When I click on Submit, nothing happens.  Microsoft support remoted into my computer earlier and was not able to find the cause.  They started a system sfc (system file checker) scan and advised trying again later.  The sfc scan found nothing.  New postings and replies do seem to be showng up.

Many hours later, the problem still seems to persist.  Can someone suggest anything to try?  I'm running Windows-7 Professional 64-bit.

  • Microsoft answers is a different platform than the MSDN / TechNet forums. There's no connection between the sites. I'd try posting here and if you still cannot then the profile may have been banned, but we have no way of knowing over here. The best thing to do is create a new account and report or ask about the issue over here.

  • I doubt that I'm banned, since I never say anything controversial.  I don't get messages about being banned.  The page just doesn't do anything after I click Submit.

Gosh, create a new profile, thus requiring a new email address.  That's a tectonic fracture.  I've got a long history with the existing email address, and I keep links to threads that I start.  Essentially, I use my posts on the site as a knowledge base for future reference.

I'll try reporting the problem using the link that you provided.  If the generic Microsoft support can only recommend trying later (with the same result), then hopefully, your link will be a magic pipeline to the subject area specialists.

    Thanks.

  • Sounds good, you're welcome.

and I keep links to threads that I start

Try opening them and or your profile, when I click on old links to your microsoft answers profile I get This profile is being reviewed by site moderators. which leads me to assume banned.

  • Unfortunately, even a newly created account experiences the same problem, as does a 2nd old account used only for issues encountered at work.  It looks like I'm out of options.

For future reference, this is what I tried to post.  It contains all details of the problem.

Where to post a test message on answers.microsoft.com
    -----------------------------------------------------
I ran into problems posting to answers.microsoft.com
yesterday morning, using multiple browsers and multiple
laptops.  Microsoft support remoted into my laptop and
experienced the same problem.  They replicated the problem,
found nothing that could have caused it, so they said to try
again later.  My attempts the next day (today) also failed,
as did my attempts using a new account.

This is my Nth attempt, and my first using a 2nd older
account meant exclusively for issues encountered at work.
For future reference, where do I post test messages in order
to avoid degrading the signal-to-noise ratio for real
    questions?

I'm hoping that this thread will be found by others having
to do this in the future.  So even though it is a test
message in the forum for real questions, the answer(s) will
eliminate the need to do this in the future.

The suggestion was made that my original account may be
locked, based on the fact that older discussion threads that
I started were locked.  However, I never got any message to
that effect, even after logging in, and recent discussion
    topics are not locked.

  • I can see many new posts over there and I just created a test post over there so the site has no issues as far as I can tell. The profile no longer comes up as under review. I'd suggest creating a new microsoft account and setup a new forums profile to post with and ask there about your issues.

Unfortunately there is no support path for microsoft answers forums problems or issues here in MSDN/ TechNet forums.

  • Hi Dave,

Yes, I also saw that there are recent posts, and I did use that forum link that you previously provided, and I created a new account.  Same problem.  And same problem using a 2nd old account that is reserved for issues that I encounter at work.  This happens both at home and using public WiFi at a cafe.  I wonder if it might be related to my use of Windows 7.  Maybe Microsoft decided not to test webpage code with Windows 7 anymore.  Though frankly, I'm not sure how dependent the browser behaviour is on the underlying OS.

    I'd create a new account.
