Question

SO TIRED of this issue!
I have an HP Pavillion, purchased from HP online store back in 2009, worked fine til a week ago. Every time I click on the link to "go online and resolve" I get an error message: ...go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=89429&OSV=6.1.7601.2.00010100.1.0048.09.1033&LS....Application Not Found. I went to this MS site and followed instructions from other links for renaming the tokens.dat, which was sucessful, but still no change in the Genuine Status. Late last night I coughed up the $153.35 to purchase a new product key, changed it through Control Panel, as per instructions from another link, and I still get the same notification. Please help! The following report is run after I changed the Product Key, I also have the original one if you need it.

Please try validating at www.microsoft.com/genuine/validate and see what happens.
Then, if that fails, try swapping the Key back to the original OEM_SLP Key (NOT the one on the COA sticker - use 74T2M-DKDBC-788W3-H689G-6P6GT instead)
Post a new MGADiag report, either way

this is the code for a blocked product key. looks like you purchased it from a bogus seller. demand a refund.
where did you purchase it?
Product keys are never sold separately by Microsoft. If you see a listing on an auction site, online classified ad, or other online page advertising product keys for sale, it’s a good indication that the keys are likely stolen or counterfeit. If you were to purchase and use a stolen or counterfeit product key to activate Windows installed on your PC, the key may not work for activation, may already be in use on another PC, or it might be blocked from use later by Microsoft when the key is reported stolen.
I suggest you change you product key back to the one on your COA and post a new report.
For what version and edition of windows is on your COA.

It looks to me as if this is a case of corruption, rather than non-genuine-ness.There is no way that an OEM_SLP Key should ever give that result (except the Lenovo Key)Please run a full CHKDSK and SFC scan....type in the Search box
CMD.EXE
right-click on the only file that is found
Select Run as Administrator
- the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up
At the Command prompt, type
CHKDSK C: /R
and hit the Enter key.You will be told that the drive is locked,
and the CHKDSK will run at he next boot - hit the Y key, and then reboot.
The chkdsk will take a few hours depending on the size
of the drive, so be patient!
After the CHKDSK has run, Windows should boot normally
(possibly after a second auto-reboot) - then run the SFC
SFC -System File Checker - Instructions
Click on the Start button
type in the Search box
CMD.EXE
right-click on the only file that is found
Select Run as Administrator
- the Elevated Command Prompt window should pop up
At the Command prompt, type
SFC /SCANNOW
and hit the Enter keyWait for the scan to finish - make a note of any error messages - and then reboot.
Post an MGADiag report with details of any error messages encountered.

YES! That worked. My background is still black but at least it says that I am validated! Thank You! Thank You! Hugs to you man! You have saved my weekend. BTW, I tried the old OEM_SLP Key and it didn't like it so I guess I didn't waste that $153.00 after all. =)Sunday, May 20, 2012 2:55 AM
