My mother board crashed and I had to replace it. Now that I have reinstalled vista it tells me that my number is invalid. What do I need to do?
Replacing the motherboard under anything but warranty conditions invalidates an OEM license.
You will probably need to purchase a new Full Retail license for your chosen operating system,.
You can try changing the Product Key to the one on your COA sticker and then activating by telephone - but the operator is likely to take a lot of convincing, to allow the activation.
