Invalid product key, Validation code 8? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi, I don't really understand what genuine advantage is about or what is going on.

My mom bought this toshiba sattelite computer with windows installed from office depot in its factory sealed box.

I am just hoping nothing is wrong and I can get rid of the pop up in the sign in screen and the one that pops out randomly while I am using my computer soon.

    Thanks!

  • joyceoooo,

The key showing up on the diagnostic report indicates that it is a KEYGEN key.  Can you verify that the product key

that you used is from the laptop itself?  This key was used to install Windows XP Professional.  Can you tell me if the product key on the laptop is for Windows XP Home? or Windows XP Professional?

If there is a discrepency, please uninstall and reinstall from the original cd's or use the product key provided with the laptop.
