"The product key you typed is already in use" RRS feed

  • Question

  • I recently purchased and downloaded the windows vista home premium upgrade from the windows website. It installed succesfully and also activated succesfully. However, just yesterday windows started doing an automatic activation, and it failed. Now windows is giving me just a few days to activate my copy of windows, when I try to activate im told that the product key I typed in, is already in use. The product key was sent to me by microsoft over digital locker and this is the only computer that I installed vista on. I already tried running commad promt "slmg -ikp " and also changing my product key and nothing works.

When you try to activate or change product keys in the system properties, press NEXT instead of "Activate Windows Online Now".

  • You may be prompted to activate Windows Vista on a computer on which Windows Vista activation was not previously required: http://support.microsoft.com/Default.aspx?kbid=931573
