OCS - Edge Server - Is Public Domain Name is Mandatory for Edge server deployment RRS feed

    I have OCS installed on my local env, now i want to publish this for external users via edge server for this i have only public IP's but not a public domain name.

    Now the quetion is "Is the public Domain name mandatory to enable OCS for External users or to deploy Edge servers?".

    Can some body answer to this, i apreciate your help.

    If you want to use Automatic Configuration on the clients then DNS SRV and/or A records are required, unless you want to manage a local hosts file on all the external workstations.

    If you use Manual Configuration on the clients you could get away with not having external DNS records but will have limited functionality as things like inviting anonymous users to Live Meetings will not work, for example.  Considering the small cost of registering a domain name (like $2 for a new one at GoDaddy) I'd highly suggest getting something to host external DNS records; just make sure it supports SRV records (most do these days)

    guys, please help as am lost here,  i have deployed internally the OCS and it works perfect, now i want to deploy it outside on interent allowing anonymous access,  the problem that i dont have PUBLIC IP ADDRESS and NO domian. i use DYNDNS.


    my internal domain : mydomain.dyndns.org


    can i deploy it with edge server without IP Address and External DNS?  can i deploy external DNS if i dont have public ip address?

    Experts , please advice me what should  i do? what do i need to make it happen? am really stuck
