How send email from CRM4

Question
-
What do I need to configure to send e-mail directly from CRM4. I want to do this on the CRM server machine (with server 2008). I have Exchange installed on a different server (SBS 2008). Do I need to install an e-mail client on that machine? How to prepare for this?
What I want to do is send mail based on marketinglist, starting Word mail merge, then choose for merge to e-mail. That means Office Word starts and the mail merge to email is taken from there.
Should I install CRM4 email Router or will I not use that in this way anyway?
Should I install MS Outlook client on the CRM server or e.g. Windows Live Mail or some other client to easily use with Exchange?

To able send/receive emails from Dynamics CRM you may use Exchange Email Router or use Microsoft Outlook CRM client.
I would like to sugest Exchange Email Router here you have a instructions with video how to configure it: http://blogs.msdn.com/crm/archive/2008/02/07/crm-4-0-e-mail-integration-overview.aspx

Hi,
Further to Kgorczewski's post. I would recommend that you download and view the " How to configure the On-premise and Online E-mail Router in different deployment scenarios" document from the URL below.

The document has screenshots to help you configure the email router and the pros and cons of different scenarios.

I could wait forever, no message appeared.
With help of the following link http://blogs.javista.com/2009/01/09/troubleshooting-the-microsoft-dynamics-crm-e-mail-router/ I found the issue:
I had typed https://myexchangeserver.com/OWA as mailserver but the /OWA part needed to be left out there.
Furthermore I found that
- instead choosing for online service provider for my CRM server I had to choose option 'My Business'
- http://crmserver:500/tComputerhuys (leaving out the space and apostroph although that is the literal name in CRM)
where all necesary adjustments to my settings to make it work.
Finally I found that I had to match the emailadress in CRM with the one in Exchange (makes sense;-)
Now the settings for incoming mail and outgoing mail from CRM should work fine according to the Wizard. Actually testing this I found that outgoing mail works now but incoming mail doesn't. But outgoing is most important to me now since I want to use it to send a mailing.
I haven't tested actually sending the mailing yet though. I'll do that tomorrow.
Thanks for your help!

Thanks, I'm working on it now. However I get stuck at the stage where I have to fill out the CRMSERVER credentials in the CRM E-mail Router Configuration Wizard. I choose 'an online service provider' like in the instruction video and then enter the following (literally) Microsoft Dynamics CRM server:
http://192.168.1.100/'t Computerhuys
I have installed the Email router on the server where CRM is installed. So I'm setting up the e-mail router now on this same machine. The name of the machine is CRMSERVER, full name CRMSERVER.computerhuys.local, IP adress is 192.168.1.100. When I normally start CRM on this machine I use following URL: http://crmserver:500
The litteral organisation name in CRM, as it appears in the upper right corner of CRM is :
't Computerhuys
so including a space and an 'apostroph'
The URL of the Business Unit link under CRM setup is as follows:
http://crmserver:500/tComputerhuys/biz/business/ etc.
What URL should I use here now?
Furthermore what credentials to use: CRM?, computer?, SQL server?

Thanks. The problem that arose earlier is now solved (a port was actually not forwarded correctly to the crmserver in my router, rest was ok).
I'm having the next issue now, still in the CRM E-mail Router Configuration Wizard. Now when testing the emailaccount that was taken from CRM I get no testresult. System appears to continue testing, no progress or result shows up.
Any idea's?

How long are you waiting. For me it takes to 1-2 mins to show the result.
Here is video how to configure EER: http://video.mikelu.org/emailrouterexchange/emailrouterexchange.html
