device not showing up in Device list of Live Mesh RRS feed

  • Question

  • I installed live mesh on my XP SP3 computer and it installed fine.   I can click on live mesh and I see all my devices.  i can connect to other devices fine.   However.. when i try to connect to my XP machine from another computer, it doesn't show up on the list of devices.    How do I get this computer to be part of my device list?  Every time I try to add it.. it tries to download and install the software all over again.

    Thanks!

  • Click on the machine where? In the Live Mesh client on other machines or in your device list at www.mesh.com?

If you do not see the machine listed in the device list on the client or when signed in on www.mesh.com then Mesh did not install properly/completely and connect to the Mesh. If you open the client on the PC and it lists all machines other than itself, that would be strange, since that would indicate that you are connected to Live Mesh. if you see the other machines when signing in on www.mesh.com, but not this one, then my theory is supported.

When the client is installed, it connects to the Mesh with the LiveID and that makes it part of the Mesh. I suggest uninstalling and reinstalling. However, your time with Live Mesh on the XP machine is limited as the next version of Live Sync/Mesh that is currently in Beta will not support XP.
