Unfortunatly, that will not work.
The product Key that is currently being used in that copy of Vista is known as a Keyless Install key. When you install Vista you are not required to enter a Product key during the install process. This is called a Keyless Install. When that happens, Windows uses it's own Keyless Install key. This key acts like a Trial key and allows Window to be used for 30 days but can not be activated.
Now, I believe the problem occured like this. Your laptop came with a Pre-installed copy of Windows Vista. That type of Windows is called OEM Software (OEM stands for Original Equipment Manufacturer). You then tried to reinstall that copy of Vista but instead of using the Recovery Software that is provided with the computer, you used a Retail DVD. During the install process, Windows asked for a Product Key. You entered the OEM Product Key (from the sticker on the side or bottom of the PC) The retail install will not accept a OEM Product Key. So since no acceptable key was entered, Windows used it's own Keyless Install key.
Before you say that your laptop didn't come with any Recovery Software, please know that a) All manufacturers are Required to include some way for the user to reinstall and b) Most manufacturers no longer supply a Disk with the recovery software with the PC, but instead include the Recovery Software on the Hard Drive of the PC.
To resolve the issue, you will need to reinstall Vista using the Recovery Software that came with your Laptop. However, since you have already reinstalled using a Retail disk, it is likely that the Recovery Software (located on the PC's hard drive) has been overwritten. In that case, you will need to contact the Manufacturer for a replacment copy of the Recovery Software for that model of laptop.
Thank you,

As far as I can see, your Windows is perfectly OK - you simply need to activate it.If you've had to reinstall a few times, then telephone activation is required.
Try activation by phone - Click on Start, then in the Search box, typeSLUI 4and hit the Enter key - follow the instructions.Good Luck
