Windows 7 - Genuinely Disadvantaged RRS feed

  • Question

  • Apologies for originally posting on the wrong forum earlier...

I installed a brand new, sealed retail boxed edition of windows 7 home premium a few months ago and it has just decided that it is no longer genuine.

It started with the warning popup 'you may be running counterfeit software'. I ran the WGA checker and it's still convinced my copy of windows is pirated.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks.

The product ID -232- Indicates a not for resale MSDN account. If you are not the account holder and you purchased this in a retail box, the box and it's contents are counterfeit. Demand an immediate refund from the seller

    For more information see this:

You will have to purchase a legitimate windows from a legitimate retailer.

Urgh. It had the proper sticker with a hologram that tears when you open the box and everything. Thanks for your help. I'll try my luck with the report.

  • Take a look at the video George linked and see if your seal and hologram are genuine.  The truth is it is a counterfeit box and contents made in China.  No part of it is genuine.  Sorry.  The counterfeiters are obtaining MSDN subscriptions fraudulently and using the product keys (each subscription entitles the subscriber to hundreds) in their counterfeit products.  There are tens of thousands of these counterfeits on eBay, the Amazon Marketplace, and the discount websites.  Only buy from the Microsoft Store, Amazon Corp. or other reliable reseller.
