Reinstalling CRM 4 on existing Database RRS feed

  • Question

  • Good day to all experts.

I have had quite a serious problem lately with my AD. Finally my IT team confirmed that there is no way I could have my CRM server back. They can only rescue my SQL database files (configuration and data). I can attach those data files to my new SQL server.

Now I need to install a fresh new CRM Server with a new AD. I really need a expert recommendation on how to install a new CRM 4 server using my existing data.

    Any assistance is highly appreciated.

  • Theara,

Check out this how to KB 952934

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/952934

Redeploy the Microsoft Dynamics CRM deployment that includes the Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server within the same domain or to another domain.

This part of the process is key: When you are prompted to enter the organization name, use a name that differs from the original organization name. You will import the old organization into the new installation. Therefore, you do not want the installation process to create a new organization that has the same name.

It isn't as scary as it sounds. You can do it.

  • Hi Jerry,

I set up a new environment as follow

    Old Environment New Environment
    2003 Server AD 32bit 2008 Server AD 64bit
CRM 4 Ent CRM 4 Ent
    SQL Server 2005 SP2 SQL Server 2008 64 bit

After setting a new environment, I have a new fresh CRM with no data. I can log on to it and I can use it normally. I want my old data back so I used Deployment Manager to import my old data. Now in my deployment manager, I have 2 organizations 1 old (no data) and 1 new with my old data. The problem is I can only log on to the old organisation (no data)  but I cannot log on to my new organization (with my old data) because when I enable and default only my new Organisation and log I receive this error message "Invalid User Authorization. The user authentication passed to the platform is not valid. "

  • Hi,

Did you mapped your previous CRM Administrator to the current Active Directory Administrator?
