Windows 7 says that it cannot be Validated RRS feed

  • Question

  • I installed windows 7 on a new harddrive and during the installation it never asked me for the activation key. Now, about a month after that, windows is telling me my installation is not legit.

I used the MGAD tool and this is what it gave me:

  • The installed Product Key is a KMS Volume License Key - and requires periodic re-activation at a private server with at least 25 clients attached.

Your machine is based on a Retail motherboard - and doesn't normally qualify for the use of such a key.

Does what shows of the Key here agree with your own Key? If so, you were sold a counterfeit.

    If not...

You need to change the Product Key to the one on the COA sticker on the machine's case (or inside the battery compartment, or on the Proof of License card),  using the Change Product Key link at the bottom of the System properties page.

You may need to activate by phone.
