  • Windows Updates shows code error 80070426. I checked around and found out that the software licensing service is stopped. I tried to start it, I get the code 3, pathway to the file is not found. I checked slsvc file under system32, it is there alright. I do not know what the problem is.

    Interesting!
It looks like the file path has been stripped out of the service somehow.
I'm not certain how to deal with this - certainly not sure enough to do so in public.
If you email me at ngsATcrashfixpcDOTcoDOTuk (make the obvious changes) then we can try and deal with it off-forum.
I suspect that the easiest way to attack it would be to uninstall and reinstall the service from scratch.

  • I checked Registry and found a missing line under Services

    ImagePath                            REG_SZ                            %SystemRoot%\system32\SLsvc.exe

So I added this line, it has no effect.

Open a Command Prompt window (click on Start, in the Search box type CMD, and hit the Enter key).
    At the prompt, type

    SC QC SLSVC
hit the Enter key and wait for the response

    do the same for
    SC QUERYEX SLSVC
    SC SDSHOW SLSVC
    SC QPRIVS SLSVC
    SC QSIDTYPE SLSVC

Copy the results to your response here.
