  • Hi All,
    I have an issue about data migration tool. Its about connection to CRM.

    if i write "http://192.168.48.X:5555"
    Wizard's error message: "The specified Microsoft Dynamics CRM Server is not avaliable. Make sure that the URL is correct. To test the URL, try opening it in Internet Explorer." but as you guess crm is opening succesfully in internet explorer with that ip.

    if i write "http://localhost:5555"
    Wizard's error message: "The configuration wizard  cannot connect to Microsoft CRM Server.This might indicate that the server is down". but server is not down.

    What is the wrong ?

  • Go back to your CRM / SQL box and look in the event viewer to see what errors are registered.  I assume you have full rights on the SQL database so SQL security is not the issue is it?

     

    What errors are showing in the event viewer.  Also, you can download the CRM Diag tool and turn Dev errors on.  That might flush out a better error message.

    Also, take a look at the help files in CRM.  Use the following as a search 'Install and Run the Data Migration Manager'.  ensure you have followed the instructions provided.

  • Here are a few links on how others have resolved the issue.  It looks like there are mutiple possible reasons so maybe one of these posts will point you in the right direction.  Please be aware that direct updates to the CRM database are not supported. 

     

    You may have already tried this but if not, try connecting without specifying the port number.  httpp://crmservername.

  • First of all, thanks for your reply. I checked for the first link but there isnt any differences between sql and crm ip definitions.
    I was getting this errors when i was trying to connect on crm pc. Now i tried to connect with other pc on network and migration tool's new error: "The Data Migration Manager encountered an error while setting up the temporary migration database. Restart the Data Migration Manager, and then try migration the data again."
    This is really
    freakish.

  • If your SQL box is on a different machine then your CRM box, try running the DMM on your SQL box and see if you get a better result.
