  • Question

  • I've had my laptop for about... 3 years? 4 years? Not sure on the year date exactly, but I've had this for a while. And it's been Windows 7 since I got it.

However, just today it said basically what the title says. Completely new to this and the problems I have, hope I can get help. Any and all replies are 100% appreciated.

  • The laptop is only two years old, (October 23, 2009).

Is the issue intermittent?  The report does not show it.  Sometimes a temporary condition shows up and just running the tool can fix it.

  • Feels like I've had it longer... Heh, I shouldn't compare school years to laptop ownership years lol.

And running what tool, may I ask?

  • That would be the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool you just download and ran in order to produce the report you posted.  It is able to correct some issues while it runs.

  • Seems to be working normal once more...

Dang thing got me worried for a few hours there. There goes my homework time lol.

Thanks you two.  For future reference, this error would pop up for what reasons, and what would be the way to fix it thereafter?

  • Several processes contending for focus, causing the system to "miss a beat" or perhaps a "race condition".  Those sorts of things elude the diagnostics because of their brief and unpredictable nature.
