I installed a promo disk of windows 7 ultimate by mistake, i suppose. I had a replacement disk that came from Microsoft in the same envelope. I put in the product key affixed on the envelope and I tried to do the activation by phone: the computer did not
have internet access. I received an error message that said I should contact the vendor of the software...
Question: If I delete the promo version from my computer and install the version from the replacement disk, would that solve the activation issue?
Question: To avoid a possible error again, is there a way to validate the product key before I proceed with the installation? Could I get another replacement disk, in case the one I have is no longer valid?
I would very much appreciate a prompt reply. Thank you, wherever you might be, and stay safe!
