HPC server 2008 - What does it do? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi guys,I have been testing the new version of HPC server 2008.  I have setup a head node and two compute nodes.  All are online and seem to be working. The only thing is, i have no idea what they are supposed to be doing?? If i have a bunch of data on one compute node and it fails, i would assume the whole point of the cluster is that it fails over to the other compute node.  But how does the data get replicated between the nodes? As i said, everything is set up, but i just don't know what to do next...any links or help would be greatly appreciated.thanks

  • wrong kind of cluster :-) HPC Server is about fast, parallel computation. Check out microsoft.com/hpc for a description of features and functions of the product.

  • Hi Rakem,

I'm glad you've asked this question.  Pop over to http://connect.microsoft.com (navigate to HPC Server 2008 part) and ask it though.  There's a v2 forum there and I'm sure someone would be happy to explain!

  • Have you checked http://windowshpc.net for resources? If you want to know more, you might want to sign up for a one day Jumpstart at http://hpcpal.com.
