Infer.NET is out of date on NuGet RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi,

The version of Infer.NET that is currently available on NuGet is 2.4.0, published in 2011: http://www.nuget.org/packages/Infer.Net

Would it be possible to update this to the 2.5 version? This would be very helpful so that developers of research projects can create repositories with the NuGet dependency instead of having to put compiled binaries in the repository itself.

    Thanks!

  • Microsoft has never distributed any Infer.NET release via NuGet as the Microsoft Research release process only supports downloading directly from http://research.microsoft.com/infernet.  The older version of Infer.NET that you refer to was uploaded by a user who did not have authorization to do so.

That said, the team are huge proponents of NuGet and we make use of it for internal releases. I agree that releasing via NuGet would be very useful for many of our external users. I am hoping the Microsoft Research code release process may include the possibility of using NuGet as a distribution mechanism in the near future.

    Thanks

    John

  • Ah - makes sense. Thanks for clarifying that. I think using NuGet would help for wider adoption of Infer.NET in the research community as well.

  • Hey guys - any word on whether 2.6 and later can be published on NuGet? It would make it a lot easier to share examples and repositories without having to include binary DLLs.

  • Thanks for your patience. The Infer.NET 2.6 Compiler and Runtime DLLs are now available on NuGet.

Use the following command in the Package Manager Console:

    PM> Install-Package Microsoft.Research.InferNET

  • This is great news! I think this will really help adoption and usage of this awesome machine learning package.
