Off Topic: NTAuthority\system - HELP! RRS feed

  • General discussion

  • Hi,
Yesterday morning my computer was working just fine. I was doing my normal movie watching when a error log came up saying that a shutdown was initiated by NTAuthority\system and that RPC was terminated unexpectedly with a timer counting down the time to the shutdown(and it did shutdown when it got to 0.00). Now in checking I found out that this was a virus that infected a lot of person a few yrs ago. I didnt have it then so now I dont know what to do. I have symantec running but it didnt see the virus and still not seeing it. Ive tried everything that was suggested. Even downloading a file named FixBlast.exe cause they said it would find it and that it was easy to get rid off. Well no such luck for me.

I really cant afford to get 1. a new PC and 2. loose all my files. Please Please is there anyone that can A. tell me if its really the virus and Y symantec did pick it up? and B. How to fix it without formatting my system?
