Query Is Null in Inter Joined Tables

  I just converted to Microsoft Office 2007 and one of my queries in old version of Microsoft Access does not work.  I have an Left InterJoin on one table to another table that does not match all the values on the left table.  In the old query I was able to put a condition of Is Null on the table with blanks and now this does not work in the Access 2007 version.  I can recreate the select with the Query wizard to Find Unmatched Records but once I edit the query it gives me the same syntax error on the Is Null condition.  I need be able to select these unmatched null records.
