Product activation failed - genuine windows xp RRS feed

  • Question

  • I bought an old computer (HP) with a genuine xp sticker on the side. The problem is that when it comes to the windows log in screen it said I have to activate to continue. I followed the instructions and phoned the number give but is said that my copy can't be activated. Is there anything I can do?

To properly analyse and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop - http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )
    Once saved, run the tool.
Click on the Continue button, which will produce the report.
To copy the report to your response, click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your response.

What version and edition (XP Home or Pro?) is quoted on the COA sticker?

(Sorry - should have added that you may be able to use Safe Mode with Networking to access the PC)
