My computer thinks its not genuine after a system restore

Question
-
I have been running windows Vista (Build 6002, service pack 2) for about a year, and all of a sudden my CD/DVD disk drive stopped working and I received the message "TransBase CD/DVD DataBase System has encountered a problem and needs to close". This message came up every time I rebooted my computer and I still could not use my disk drive.A friend then suggested that it may be because I uninstalled a disc burning program that I never used, but as none of my CDs would work in my disk drive (although my computer still recognised the drive, and made a lot of noise when I put a disc in) they suggested I did a system restore. However, after I did the system restore my computer told me my version of windows was not valid. My laptop came with Vista pre-installed, and I did not have a recovery disc. However, I did find the product key printed on the bottom of my Laptop. I went into "system properties" and looked under "windows activation". The message read:This copy of windows is not activated, click here to activate now.Underneath that was my product key, which did not match the one that was printed underneath my computer, but I was told that the one appearing on screen was the one they used to activate it at the factory or wherever, and that all I needed to do was click "change activation key" and input my one. This did not work. I received error code 0xC004F050 and was told that my key was invalid.I looked online and discovered that I may need to activate my key by phone, but to find the number I had to enter "slui.exe 4" in the search in my start bar and run that program. Unfortunately, this program would not run either and I recieved error code 0xC004E002, while being told that "The Software Licensing Service reported that the license store contains inconsistent data".I looked through some threads on the Microsoft website about this sort of thing happening and found out you can validate Windows Vista online. So I tried that. But all I received was:
Windows Vista Genuine Validation Results
Validation Incomplete
The validation service is unable to determine whether this copy of Windows Vista is genuine.
Recommended Solution
Run validation again later
Validate your copy of Windows again later by going to http://www.Microsoft.com/genuine and clicking Validate Windows.
[0x80080250]Which didn't help at all. I also ran "Windows Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool" and this is the report:

Looking through that I noticed it says something about Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 being not activated. It has been activated, because I used a 3-use disc that I also used on the other computers in my household. Then I found "Microsoft Office Diagnostics" and decided to run that. The results told me there were no problems. When I clicked continue, however, there became a problem with the webpage Microsoft Office was trying to connect to:
There is a problem with this website's security certificate.

Hello Gothgirl339,
For the Windows issue, please give the below steps a try:
1) Open an Internet Browser window.
2) Type: %windir%\system32 into the browser address bar.
3) Find the file CMD.exe
4) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select 'Run as Administrator'
5) Type: net stop slsvc (it may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
6) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareLicensing
7) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
8) Type: cd %windir%\system32
9) Type: net start slsvc
10) Type: cscript slmgr.vbs -rilc (It may take a long time for this to complete, please be patient)
11) Restart your computer twice.
12) You may be required to enter the Product Key and/or Activate. Be sure to use the Product Key from the sticker on the side or bottom of the PC (some laptops have the sticker in the battery compartment) and Activate using the By Phone method. For the Office issue, please first, uninstall the Non-Genuine Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007. It was installed using a Volume License Key. The Company who owned it reported the key Lost, Stolen or Leaked to the internet.
Once you uninstall the Non-genuine Office, you can check to see if your Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 is activated by following the "How can I tell whether my software has been activated?" section of this artical http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint-designer-help/activate-microsoft-office-programs-HA001233434.aspx#BM4
If you find that Microsoft Office Home and Student 2007 is already activated, you may try the "Fix It" section in this artical http://support.microsoft.com/kb/903275
Hope that helps,

One thing that did happen though, was the activation screen said that I had activated it and it was genuine, and then it came up again and asked me to type it in again, but I just clicked the "x" on that because it had already said it had been activated. The "windows is not genuine" thing is still in the corner of my screen, do I just have to change my desktop background now?
Oh and the transbase CD Database error still comes up when I boot my computer.
Thank you for all your help!

It now looks as if Windows at least is reporting as being activated, and genuine :)Now please repost (yes, again <g>) in the Office Genuine forums with respect to your Office activation problems - I know relatively little about Office in this respect, and Carl, Dan or Darin will be able to point you in a better direction there than I can.Good Luck!

Thank you! And everything now works perfectly well! (It just took anpther re-boot for the message to go away, and the Microsoft office finally realised it was activated)
Except for the transbase cd database error, and my disk drive but I think I'll have to take that in somewhere.
Thank you ever so much for helping me with all this!

Hi
I would like to thank you very much for the time taken to answer this question for Gothgirl339. It has worked for me too and has saved a lot of time re-installing my software as my system was requiring me to do.
Thanks
