  • Question

  • I upgraded my father's laptop to Windows 7 Home Premium shortly after it was released in Oct 2009, with a license bought from the MS Online Store, and it has been working perfectly since then.

However, today his machine is reporting that he is not using a valid copy of Windows and prompting him to purchase another upgrade. He has tried to re-type his original product key, and contacted the automated phone activation service, but neither have been able to stop him from receiving the error 'code:00C004C003 The activation server determined the specified product key has been blocked.'

Please see below for the output from the MGADiag tool; can anyone advise how to continue from here? If I need to phone anyone, please note that I'm in the UK so local number would be appreciated.

    Thanks in advance, Matt

  • I just wanted to update this thread.

There appears to have been an issue with the Product key Activation/Validation servers that only effected a subset of Digitally Distributed Product keys.

This issue has been corrected and user that were affected by this should no longer be seeing a Non-Genuine/Key Blocked error.

If you do still see this error please try the following:

    1) Reboot and then re-try Activating and/or Validating.

    2) If you still see the issue, please contact Microsoft Assisted Support (at one of the below URLs)

    Outside North America:

    Thank you,
