Backup Config doesn't see XP Pro as NTFS

PC has two internal hard drives and two external USB drives. When I attempt to configure backup, I get the error saying "Home PC is unresponsive". I uninstalled the Home Connector software and re-installed. At the end of the procedure, it says there is no NTFS drive to backup. I uninstalled, removed the two USB drives, re-installed and the software still doesn't see my PC as NTFS. I did look in Disk Manager and verified that the two remaining internal drives are NTFS.

I installed the connector software on my laptop and can backup with no issues.

JimF42 figured out the pattern as to which systems fail the "NTFS" test. There's some discussion of it at http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsHomeServer/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1725584&SiteID=50 and http://forums.microsoft.com/WindowsHomeServer/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1733848&SiteID=50

No word on why WHS thinks these drives are not NTFS while Disk Management thinks they are NTFS, and no easy workaround (convert them to dynamic seems to work but I'm not brave enough to try that on my systems).

Thanks. I tried searching the forums and doing a google search before posting. I suppose my search strings were not very effective. Thanks for pointing me to the other threads.

No worries. Coming up with effective search strings is an art-form (one that I'm not very good at). To make it worse each site has its own idiosyncracies. The way I found JimF42's thread was by visual inspection of the subject lines, which is not exactly efficient.
