Greetings,
The 70-178 exam is very challenging. My first bit of advice is to get Project 2010 installed and use it. You need to understand how the product works.
For details about what types of topics are covered by the exam, visit the Microsfoft Learning site for this exam here:
http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/Exam.aspx?ID=70-178&Locale=en-us
There is also a learning plan ( a series of articles, videos and other resources) to help you prepare. You can access it here:

Here is a link for a virtual lab that helps you explore Project 2010. This is useful if you do not have MS Project installed at home or work. The virtual labs are free web based tools. They give you some guides to show you the functionality of
the tool but feel free to explore. You can find the lab here:

Lastly, if you happen to be in the Phoenix area later this month, Microsoft is holding the Project conference. As part of the event, they are offering free certification testing for the 70-177 (Project Server) and 70-178 (MS Project) exams. Here is
the link:

If you do make it to the conference, stop by on Thursday and see the session that I am presenting~!
Good luck.
